My Favorite Genealogy FaceBook groups
A list of my favorite genealogy FaceBook groups – check them out!
1. The Genealogy
Squad – run by Cyndi Ingle (of Cyndi’s list), Drew Smith (of the Genealogy Guys
Podcast), and Cari Taplin. This is a
great general genealogy resource, with a “focus on answering questions and
solving problems, while demonstrating best practices in all aspects of
genealogical research.”
2. Prussian Genealogy
& Heritage / German, Polish & Lithuanian Roots Community – an excellent
group to ask questions about your Prussia ancestors – very friendly and
knowledgeable responses to your questions.
3. Scottish Indexes
Group – this group is run by Emma and Graham Maxwell, husband and wife
genealogists from Scotland. I’ve
attended several of their conferences, and they are extremely knowledgeable
researchers of Scottish records.
4. Genealogical
Translations – a great resource for those hard-to-figure-out documents that are
not in English. This group provides free
translations of documents in Dutch, French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian,
Latin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and others. If Google translate isn’t enough, this is the
group to go to.
5. Genetic Genealogy
Tips & Techniques – for DNA research questions, check out this group. It’s run by some of the top genetic genealogy
experts in the field, and provide help for beginner to advanced DNA topics.
