My Favorite Genealogy Podcasts

Listening to podcasts is a great way to multi-task – while you’re cooking, taking a walk, or sewing, you can hear stories and perspectives from a wide variety of people.  For the genealogist, however, there are a few key podcasts that I find a lot of value in.  Here is my list of favorite genealogy podcasts.

1.  The Research Like a Pro Genealogy Podcast, with Diana Elder, A.G., and her daughter Nicole Dyer.  This podcast is my absolute favorite!  Their topics are helpful, easy-to-understand, and cut across all research areas.  Nicole has also been working on her certification, and she has highlighted some episodes that talk through the different portfolio requirements.  (Free on Podbean, my favorite podcast app, and at Research Like A Pro ).

2.  The Genealogy Guys Podcast, with George Morgan and Drew Smith.  This podcast has a lot of information on what’s happening in the genealogy world – new records that have become available, book reviews, and general chit-chat.  They also have a genealogist interview segment, highlighting a different person each episode.  (Free on Podbean and Genealogy Guys ).

3.  Genealogy Gems Podcast, with Lisa Louise Cooke.  Lisa Louise is a nationally-recognized genealogist.  She has been blogging and podcasting for over 20 years, and has multiple offerings – books, free podcast, premium podcast, and articles.  The free podcast is full of “gems” – she focuses on tools that can make your genealogy research easier, more organized, and richer in content.  For example, she loves Google Earth and its capabilities to enrich the story of your ancestors.  (Free podcast available on Genealogy Gems ).
